1. half (one of two equal parts)

   我吃了一半的苹果。 wǒ chī le yíbàn de píngguǒ — I ate half of the apple.

2. semi- (prefix meaning partly or incompletely)

   他是半职业的音乐家。 tā shì bàn zhíyè de yīnyuèjiā — He is a semi-professional musician.

3. (used after a number) and a half

   他每天有三个半小时的课外活动。 tā měitiān yǒu sāngè bànxiǎoshí de kèwàihuódòng — He has three and a half hours of extracurricular activities every day.
