1. to strive for a goal with determination; to set one's mind on achieving something

   他从大学开始就励志成为一名医生。 tā cóng dàxué kāishǐ jiù lìzhì chéngwéi yīmíng yīshēng — He resolved in college to become a doctor.

2. inspirational; motivational (describing stories, speeches, films, etc.)

   那部电影很励志，上映后激励了很多年轻人。 nàbù diànyǐng hěn lìzhì shàngyìng hòu jīlì le hěnduō niánqīngrén — That film is very inspirational; after its release it motivated many young people.
