动摇 — dòngyáo

1. to sway; to rock; to rattle (physically move back and forth)

   风把树枝吹得不停地动摇。 fēng bǎ shùzhī chuī dé bùtíng dì dòngyáo — The wind made the branches keep swaying.

2. to waver; to be undecided; to lose resolve

   他的信心开始动摇，不知道该不该继续这项计划。 tā de xìnxīn kāishǐ dòngyáo bùzhī dào gāibùgāi jìxù zhèxiàng jìhuà — His confidence began to waver; he wasn't sure whether to continue the project.

3. to destabilize; to pose a challenge to (an established position or authority)

   新兴力量正在动摇传统政党的支持基础。 xīnxīnglìliàng zhèngzài dòngyáo chuántǒng zhèngdǎng de zhīchí jīchǔ — Emerging forces are undermining the support base of traditional parties.
