动 — dòng

1. (of something) to move; to be in motion

   风一吹，树叶就动了。 fēng yī chuī shùyè jiù dòng le — When the wind blew, the leaves moved.

2. to set (something) in motion; to start moving

   他一推，门就动了。 tā yī tuī mén jiù dòng le — He pushed and the door started to move.

3. to displace; to change the position of something

   地震把很多石头都动了。 dìzhèn bǎ hěnduō shítou dōu dòng le — The earthquake displaced many rocks.

4. to touch (physically); to contact

   不要随便动别人的东西。 búyào suíbiàn dòng biérén de dōngxī — Don't touch other people's things casually.

5. to make use of; to employ

   为了完成任务，他动用了所有人脉。 wèile wánchéng rènwù tā dòngyòng le suǒyǒurén mài — To finish the task, he made use of all his connections.

6. to stir (emotions); to affect (feelings)

   这部电影深深打动了我。 zhèbù diànyǐng shēnshēn dǎdòng le wǒ — This movie deeply moved me.

7. to alter; to change (a state or condition)

   这个方案不能轻易动。 zhège fāngàn bùnéng qīngyì dòng — This plan cannot be easily changed.
