加油 — jiāyóu

1. to refuel; to top up with gas; to accelerate; to step on the gas

   车快没油了，我们得去加油。 chē kuài méiyóu le wǒmen dé qù jiāyóu — The car is almost out of gas; we need to refuel.

2. (fig.) to make an extra effort; to cheer someone on; "come on!"

   比赛马上开始了，大家一起加油！ bǐsài mǎshàng kāishǐ le dàjiā yìqǐ jiāyóu — The match is about to start — everyone, let's go! (Cheer on)
