1. to persuade; to try to convince someone

   他努力劝说她不要辞职。 tā nǔlì quànshuō tā búyào cízhí — He tried hard to persuade her not to resign.

2. persuasion; advice given to influence someone's decision

   在朋友的劝说下，他改变了主意。 zài péngyǒu de quànshuō xià tā gǎibiàn le zhǔyì — Under his friends' persuasion, he changed his mind.
