刺激 — cìjī

1. to provoke; to irritate; to upset

   他的话刺激了她，结果她走了。 tā dehuà cìjī le tā jiéguǒ tā zǒu le — His words provoked her, and she left.

2. to stimulate; to excite (interest, appetite, growth, etc.)

   这种新政策可以刺激经济增长。 zhèzhǒng xīn zhèngcè kěyǐ cìjī jīngjì zēngzhǎng — This new policy can stimulate economic growth.

3. an irritant; stimulation (physical or psychological)

   过度的刺激会影响睡眠质量。 guòdù de cìjī huì yǐngxiǎng shuìmián zhìliàng — Excessive stimulation will affect sleep quality.

4. stimulating; provocative (causing excitement or strong reaction)
