   他的笑声听起来有点别扭。 tā de xiàoshēng tīng qǐlái yǒudiǎn bièniǔ — His laugh sounds a bit awkward.

2. difficult; hard to deal with

   这个问题挺别扭，没那么容易解决。 zhège wèntí tǐng bièniǔ méi nàme róngyì jiějué — This problem is rather difficult; it's not easy to solve.

3. not agreeing; at odds; not getting along

   他们俩最近关系有点别扭，经常吵架。 tāmen liǎ zuìjìn guānxì yǒudiǎn bièniǔ jīngcháng chǎojià — Their relationship has been a bit strained lately; they often argue.
