出来 — chūlái

1. to come out; to emerge (from inside to outside)

   他从房间里出来了。 tā cóng fángjiān lǐ chūlái le — He came out of the room.

2. to appear; to come into view

   太阳出来了，天亮了。 tàiyáng chūlái le tiānliàng le — The sun came out; it got light.

3. to arise; (a problem, opportunity) to come up

   如果有问题出来，我们会马上处理。 rúguǒ yǒu wèntí chūlái wǒmen huì mǎshàng chǔlǐ — If any problems arise, we'll handle them immediately.

出来 — chulai

1. (verbal suffix) indicates motion outwards or completion of an action after a verb; marks result or change of state

   把门打开，猫跑出来了。 bǎmén dǎkāi māo pǎo chūlái le — Open the door; the cat ran out.

2. (after a verb) indicates completion of an action (resultative/complement)

   我算不出来这道题。 wǒ suàn bùchū lái zhè dào tí — I can't work out (calculate) this problem.

3. (after a verb and complement) indicates ability to perceive, discern, or bring something into awareness (can tell/see)

   听得出来他很累。 tīngdéchūlái tā hěn lèi — You can tell from his voice that he's very tired.
