出卖 — chūmài

1. to offer for sale; to sell (goods)

   他打算把旧家具出卖掉。 tā dǎsuàn bǎ jiùjiājù chū màidiào — He plans to sell off his old furniture.

2. to sell out (e.g., betray someone for personal gain or sell someone's secrets)

   他为了钱把同伴的行踪出卖了。 tā wèile qián bǎ tóngbàn de xíngzōng chūmài le — He sold out his companion's whereabouts for money.

3. to betray (one's cause, principles, or trust)

   他的行为被视为出卖了组织的理想。 tā de xíngwéi bèi shìwéi chūmài le zǔzhī de lǐxiǎng — His actions were seen as betraying the organization's ideals.
