   水在零度以下会凝固成冰。 shuǐ zài língdùyǐxià huì nínggù chéng bīng — Water will freeze into ice below zero degrees.

2. fig. to become motionless or fixed (e.g., with rapt attention); to be transfixed

   听到这个消息，他整个人都凝固了，呆在原地一动不动。 tīngdào zhège xiāoxī tā zhěnggè rén dōu nínggù le dāi zài yuándì yīdòngbùdòng — When he heard the news, he was transfixed and stood motionless.
