冲撞 — chōngzhuàng

1. to collide; to crash into (physically)

   两辆车在十字路口发生冲撞，路上堵了很久。 liǎngliàngchē zài shízìlùkǒu fāshēng chōngzhuàng lùshàng dǔ le hěnjiǔ — Two cars collided at the intersection and the road was blocked for a long time.

2. a jerking motion; a sudden impact or jolt

   电梯突然向下冲撞了一下，大家都吓了一跳。 diàntī tūrán xiàngxià chōngzhuàng le yīxià dàjiā dōu xiàleyītiào — The elevator suddenly jolted downward and everyone was startled.

3. to impinge on; to offend; to provoke (someone)

   你的话可能会冲撞到长辈，讲话要注意分寸。 nǐ dehuà kěnéng huì chōngzhuàng dào zhǎngbèi jiǎnghuà yào zhùyì fēncùn — Your words might offend the elders; be mindful of your tone.
