1. to enter; to go into

   请从这个门入，不要走错了。 qǐng cóng zhège mén rù búyào zǒucuò le — Please enter through this door; don't go the wrong way.

2. to join; to become a member of

   她去年入了那个俱乐部。 tā qùnián rù le nàge jùlèbù — She joined that club last year.

3. (bound form) to conform to; used in compounds (e.g. 入时 'to be fashionable')

   她的穿着很入时。 tā de chuānzhe hěn rùshí — Her clothing is very fashionable.

4. on packaging, after {number} + {classifier}: containing (n pieces) (from Japanese 入 'iri')

   包装盒写着「10入」，共有十个。 bāozhuānghé xiě zhe 1 0 rù gòngyǒu shígè — The box is marked '10-iri', meaning it contains ten pieces.

5. abbreviation for 入声 (entering tone in Middle Chinese)
