元宵 — yuánxiāo

1. Lantern Festival; the night of the 15th day of the first lunar month

   我们每年元宵都去看花灯。 wǒmen měinián yuánxiāo dōu qù kàn huādēng — Every year at the Lantern Festival we go to see the lantern displays.

2. sticky rice dumplings (glutinous rice balls) traditionally eaten at the Lantern Festival

   妈妈做了一碗热腾腾的元宵给我们吃。 māmā zuò le yīwǎn rèténgténg de yuánxiāo gěi wǒmen chī — Mom made a bowl of hot yuanxiao for us to eat.
