1. to resemble; to be like

   他像他父亲。 tā xiàng tā fùqīn — He resembles his father.

2. to look as if; to seem (appearance indicating a state)

   她脸色苍白，像是病了。 tā liǎnsècāngbái xiàngshì bìng le — Her face is pale; she looks as if she's ill.

3. for example; such as (used to introduce examples or comparisons)

   像苹果、香蕉这样的水果很健康。 xiàng píngguǒ xiāngjiāo zhèyàng de shuǐguǒ hěn jiànkāng — Fruits such as apples and bananas are healthy.

4. appearance; image; portrait; (math.) image under a mapping

   这幅像是他的自画像。 zhèfú xiàngshì tā de zìhuàxiàng — This portrait is a self-portrait of him.
