1. to pull up (stop one's vehicle); to park

   我们在路边停车吃午饭。 wǒmen zài lùbiān tíngchē chī wǔfàn — We pulled up by the roadside to eat lunch.

2. (of a machine) to stop working; to stall

   发动机突然停车了，我们只好等救援。 fādòngjī tūrán tíngchē le wǒmen zhǐhǎo děng jiùyuán — The engine suddenly stalled, so we had to wait for help.
