修复 — xiūfù

1. to restore (something to a previous state); to bring back

   工程师正在修复服务器的数据。 gōngchéngshī zhèngzài xiūfù fúwùqì de shùjù — The engineers are restoring the server's data.

2. to renovate; to repair (a building or facility)

   村里决定修复那座古桥，以便恢复交通。 cūnlǐ juédìng xiūfù nà zuò gǔqiáo yǐbiàn huīfù jiāotōng — The village decided to renovate the old bridge to restore traffic.

3. (computing) to repair (a corrupted file, system, etc.); to recover

   系统出现故障后，工程师用了备份来修复数据库。 xìtǒng chūxiàn gùzhàng hòu gōngchéngshī yòng le bèifèn lái xiūfù shùjùkù — After the system failure, engineers used backups to repair the database.
