1. trustworthiness; reliability (personal or institutional)

   他很有信用，从不说谎。 tā hěn yǒu xìnyòng cóng bù shuōhuǎng — He is very trustworthy; he never lies.

2. (commerce/finance) credit; creditworthiness; credit line

   银行批准了我的信用额度。 yínháng pīzhǔn le wǒ de xìnyòng édù — The bank approved my credit line.

3. (literary) to trust and appoint; to entrust with a post or duty

   皇帝信用这位将军，委以重任。 huángdì xìnyòng zhèwèi jiāngjūn wěiyǐzhòngrèn — The emperor trusted and appointed this general, entrusting him with important responsibilities.
