1. to bow the head; to lower one's head (literal posture)

   他害羞，见到陌生人就低头不说话。 tā hàixiū jiàndào mòshēngrén jiù dītóu bù shuōhuà — He is shy and lowers his head without speaking when he meets strangers.

2. to yield; to give in; to submit (figurative)

   他宁死也不低头，坚持自己的立场。 tā níngsǐ yě bù dītóu jiānchí zìjǐ de lìchǎng — He would rather die than give in; he held firm to his position.
