伸手 — shēnshǒu

1. to reach out with one's hand; to hold out a hand

   他伸手拿起桌上的杯子。 tā shēnshǒu náqǐ zhuōshàng de bēizi — He reached out and picked up the cup on the table.

2. (fig.) to beg; to ask for help or money; to solicit

   不要总是伸手向父母要钱，学会自己赚钱。 búyào zǒngshì shēnshǒu xiàng fùmǔ yàoqián xuéhuì zìjǐ zhuànqián — Don't always reach out to your parents for money; learn to earn your own.

3. to get involved; to meddle (in someone else's affairs)

   别随便伸手干涉别人的工作。 bié suíbiàn shēnshǒu gānshè biérén de gōngzuò — Don't casually reach in and interfere with other people's work.
