会 — huì

1. can; to be able to; to know how to (have the skill or ability)

   我会说一点中文。 wǒhuì shuō yìdiǎn zhōngwén — I can speak a little Chinese.

2. to be likely to; to be sure to (indicating probability or expectation)

   他今天会迟到。 tā jīntiān huì chídào — He will probably be late today.

3. to meet; to get together (assemble)

   我们明天在咖啡馆会一面。 wǒmen míngtiān zài kāfēiguǎn huì yímiàn — We will meet up tomorrow at the café.

4. meeting; gathering; association; union; group (organizational noun)

   工会是工人维护权益的组织。 gōnghuì shì gōngrén wéihù quányì de zǔzhī — The labor union is an organization that protects workers' rights.

5. bound form: a moment (Taiwan pronunciation [huì3])

   请你等我一会儿，我马上回来。 qǐng nǐ děng wǒ yīhuìer wǒ mǎshàng huílái — Please wait a moment for me; I'll be right back.

1. (bound form) to reckon accounts; to calculate/settle accounts
