   这件事很重要。 zhèjiàn shì hěn zhòngyào — This matter is very important.

2. thing; item (general concrete or abstract thing)

   别把小事放大。 bié bǎ xiǎoshì fàngdà — Don't make a big deal out of small things.

3. work; task; something to be done

   我还有几件事要处理，晚点给你回电话。 wǒ háiyǒu jǐjiànshì yào chǔlǐ wǎndiǎn gěi nǐ huí diànhuà — I still have a few things to take care of; I'll call you back later.
