乙 — yǐ

1. the second of the ten Heavenly Stems (乙); second in order (equivalent to B or II in lists); the second party in a contract (乙方); ethyl (chemistry); the Kangxi radical #5; ancient compass point (105°).

   合同里写明甲方和乙方的权利与义务。 hétóng lǐ xiěmíng jiǎfāng hé yǐfāng de quánlì yǔ yìwù — The contract specifies the rights and obligations of Party A and Party B.

乙 — zhé

1. turning stroke (折), a specific stroke shape used in Chinese character writing (called 乙 when naming the stroke).

   老师在黑板上写了一个乙字笔画。 lǎoshī zài hēibǎn shàng xiě le yígè yǐ zì bǐhuà — The teacher wrote a 'yi' (turning) stroke on the blackboard.
