1. to lift; to hold up

   他把箱子举起来。 tā bǎ xiāngzi jǔ qǐlái — He lifted the box up.

2. to cite; to quote; to mention; to enumerate

   他在报告中举了几个例子。 tā zài bàogào zhōngjǔ le jǐgè lìzi — He cited several examples in the report.

3. to choose; to elect; to raise (to a position); to select

   他被推举为代表团团长。 tā bèi tuījǔ wèi dàibiǎotuán tuánzhǎng — He was elected as the head of the delegation.

4. an act; a move; a deed

   此举改变了公司的未来。 cǐjǔ gǎibiàn le gōngsī de wèilái — This move changed the company's future.
