上行 — shàngxíng

1. (of trains) to travel towards the capital; upbound

   这趟上行列车将在十分钟后到达。 zhè tàng shànghánglièchē jiāng zài shífēnzhōng hòu dàodá — This upbound train will arrive in ten minutes.

2. (of river boats) to go against the current; upstream

   货船正上行，缓慢穿过狭窄的河道。 huòchuán zhèng shàngháng huǎnmàn chuānguò xiázhǎi de hédào — The cargo boat is going upstream, slowly passing through the narrow channel.

3. to submit (a document) to higher authorities; to send upward for approval

   请把这份报告上行到总部审批。 qǐng bǎ zhèfèn bàogào shàngháng dào zǒngbù shěnpī — Please forward this report upward to headquarters for approval.
