1. to come up; to move upward toward the speaker or a higher position

2. to approach; to come over (toward the speaker); to come near

   请你上来一下，帮我看看这件事。 qǐng nǐ shànglái yīxià bāng wǒ kànkàn zhèjiàn shì — Please come over for a moment and help me look at this.

3. resultative complement meaning 'to succeed in (doing something)'; indicates the action reaches toward the speaker or is completed/makes contact

   这道题太难了，我一时答不上来。 zhè dào tí tài nán le wǒ yīshí dá bù shànglái — This question is too hard; I can't come up with an answer right now.
