一般 — yībān

1. ordinary; common; general

   这家餐馆的菜一般。 zhèjiā cānguǎn de cài yìbān — The food at this restaurant is ordinary.

2. generally; in general

   一般来说，他很准时。 yìbānláishuō tā hěn zhǔnshí — Generally speaking, he is punctual.

3. so-so; mediocre (not particularly good)

   这次考试我考得一般。 zhècì kǎoshì wǒ kǎo dé yìbān — I did so-so on this exam.

4. the same; equal (used to say two things are similar/equal)

   他和我一般高。 tā hé wǒ yìbān gāo — He and I are about the same height.
